PEDAL is an annual fundraising ride supporting Pangea Educational Development. In the 4 years since the ride has been running we have ridden over 15,000 miles in 4 cities and fundraised $48,952 in the process. Each ride is fully supported from start to finish and always ends with a party.

What We're Riding For

This year our bikes are riding for bikes. Our newest project Pangea Publishing produces children's books from oral Ugandan folklore so they can have books with stories in languages relevant to them. To get these books to families we've developed Mobile Libraries. Bicycles and motorcycles deliver books to learners' homes on a weekly basis to develop a habit, and eventually, a culture of reading.

Every $1,650 we raise will fund a mobile library for a year. Each mobile library serves 362 children continually to develop essential reading skills and help parents take an active role in their child's education.

2 Rides, 1 Goal

This year we are doing two distances on a one-day event. 100 miles from Milwaukee to Chicago and 40 miles from Libertyville to Chicago - choose the distance that is right for you. Riders doing the full 100 will need to sustain 15mph to make the finish. The 40 mile ride is open to all, but should aim to sustain a 10mph pace.

We will end both rides at the same location in Lincoln Park on Chicago's north side to recover, share where the fundraised money is going, and celebrate riders success. A prize will be unveiled to be given to the rider who fundraised the most money for the project.
